LoCI Controls Achieves Nine Years of Landfill Operations with Zero Lost-Time Incidents
[WAREHAM, MA — Jan.20, 2026] LoCI Controls has logged more than 221,000 hours of landfill operations over the past nine years without a single lost-time incident, maintaining a 0% Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) across its field operations.
In landfill environments, where heavy equipment, unstable terrain, and hazardous gases are part of daily work, safety performance is a critical indicator of operational discipline and risk management. Sustaining a 0% TRIR over multiple years reflects consistent decision-making and systems designed to protect workers in high-risk conditions.
“Safe work starts with eliminating guesswork,” said Tom Lindsay, Director of Operations at LoCI. “Our real-time data and control systems allow crews to respond with precision instead of urgency, reducing risk while improving outcomes. That commitment to safety is fundamental to how we serve our customers.”
LoCI attributes its safety performance to a combination of routine safety training, real-time communication protocols for field staff, near-miss reporting, and a culture that gives employees authority to stop work when conditions are unsafe.
This approach has also been recognized by customers operating landfill sites in challenging conditions, where safe execution directly affects site operations, compliance, and risk exposure.
“LoCI has had zero safety issues across extreme weather and challenging terrain—from winter conditions that required hauling 80-pound batteries through mud and snow to seven-day-a-week service coverage,” Douglas Strathdee from Klickitat PUD celebrates, “I would attribute this to not only the personal responsibility taken by the techs but also to management that has a healthy safety culture with a ‘Safety First’ attitude.”
As LoCI continues to expand its landfill operations, the company views safety not as a milestone to celebrate, but as a baseline standard it expects to maintain.
