At LoCI, a Growing Business Creates Room for New Talent and Expanded Leadership

Written by LoCI Team | November 6, 2026

As LoCI enters its next chapter of growth, we're celebrating the people who helped get us here and welcoming the new faces who will help shape what's ahead.

2026 has been a year of milestones for LoCI Controls. We've expanded our footprint beyond the United States and into Canada, introduced new technologies and services, and continued finding new ways to help landfill operators capture more methane, improve performance, and reduce emissions.

As LoCI Controls grows as a company, so does the team making it all possible. This year, we've had the opportunity to recognize several longtime employees with well-deserved promotions while welcoming new colleagues whose experience, perspectives, and enthusiasm will help carry us into the future.

We'd like to take a moment to celebrate their stories, recognize their contributions, and introduce you to some of the people helping write LoCI's next chapter.

Building Careers, Building LoCI

This year, we're proud to recognize three employees whose dedication, leadership, and contributions have earned them new roles.

Mark Cooper | Head of Training

Understanding the day-to-day realities of landfill gas operations takes years of hands-on experience, and Mark Cooper knows that firsthand.

Having spent years working directly with customers as a Field Service Representative, Mark knows the challenges operators face, the questions they ask, and the difference that having the right knowledge can make in the field.

Earlier this year, Mark stepped into a new role as LoCI's Head of Training, taking that hands-on experience and turning it into something that benefits customers across the country.

As the leader of LoCI's Certified User and Operator Training Program, Mark travels to customer sites to help field teams develop the knowledge and confidence to operate, maintain, and troubleshoot their LoCI systems more independently.

Since the program's launch in August, more than 20 operators have completed training, helping customers build stronger internal capabilities and get even more value from their systems.

For Mark, this promotion represents an opportunity to share the expertise he's developed over years in the field with the people working on the front lines of landfill gas collection every day.

“We want every operator to feel confident working with their LoCI equipment and have the knowledge and skills to get the most out of it. Every landfill is different, which means every team has its own challenges and goals. One of the most rewarding parts of this role has been getting to work directly with operators at their sites, tailoring our training to what matters most to them, and seeing their confidence grow. I'm excited to continue building this program and welcoming more graduates along the way.”

Dr. Melinda Sims | Vice President of Product and Customer Success

As one of LoCI’s founders, Dr. Melinda Sims has been involved in just about every stage of our technology’s development, from building our very first pilot devices to bringing our 8.0 generation of devices and WellWatcher’s AI-powered Action Plan to market this year. A lot has changed since those early days, but Melinda’s approach has remained pretty much the same. She listens to landfill owners and operators, learns what challenges they’re facing, and works alongside them to test ideas, tinker with new solutions, and ultimately build technology that makes their jobs easier without adding unnecessary cost or complexity.

That approach has helped shape LoCI into what it is today, and it will be just as important as we continue to grow. With our focus increasingly shifting toward helping operators turn real-time data into actionable insights, Melinda is taking on an expanded role as Vice President of Product and Customer Success, leading our growing software development, product engineering, and customer training and support teams. It’s an opportunity for her to continue doing what she’s done since LoCI’s earliest days, now with a larger team and more ways to help customers get the most out of their landfill gas operations.

“I’ve had the pleasure of watching LoCI grow from an idea into the company it is today, and none of that would have been possible without working closely with our customers to understand what they need to succeed. I’m excited to continue building on that collaboration in this new role.”

Tom Lindsay | Vice President of Operations

Behind every LoCI device delivered, system installed, and customer supported is a team working to make it all happen, and for years, Tom Lindsay has been the person helping keep it all moving. Whether it's a single device or a large-scale installation across an entire landfill, Tom has played a critical role in ensuring our manufacturing, shipping, and installation teams work together to get the job done on time and, most importantly, safely.

That commitment to safety is perhaps one of Tom's greatest contributions to LoCI. This January, we celebrated nine consecutive years of landfill operations without a single lost-time incident, a milestone that reflects the culture of safety Tom has helped build and maintain as our company has grown.

As LoCI has expanded its North American footprint and taken on increasingly complex projects, Tom has helped ensure our operations can keep pace without compromising the safety, quality, or reliability our customers have come to expect. Now, as Vice President of Operations, he'll continue leading that work with expanded responsibility across safety, quality, manufacturing, materials and inventory management, and field service operations.

Tom's promotion is recognition of his contributions to LoCI's growth, and of the leadership that will be essential as we continue taking on bigger opportunities in the years ahead.

“I've worked in manufacturing and operations here in Wareham for a long time, and safety has always been my top priority. As LoCI has grown, we've taken on bigger projects and new challenges, but what matters most hasn't changed. I want our people to go home safely every day, our customers to be taken care of, and our team to get the job done right.”

Welcoming New Faces

While we're proud to recognize the people who have grown alongside LoCI, we're equally excited about the new colleagues joining our team.

Meaghan Amaral | Service Representative and Territory Manager

LoCI’s expansion into Canada this year marked an exciting new chapter for our company, and with it came the addition of our first Canada-based employee, Meaghan Amaral.

While earning her master's degree from St. Francis Xavier University, where her research focused on measuring emissions from active working faces at Canadian landfills, Meaghan went on to work as a research technician with FluxLabs. Her experience studying landfill methane emissions provides a valuable perspective as LoCI introduces its monitoring and control technology to new customers across Canada.

Since joining the team, Meaghan has already hit the ground running, representing LoCI at industry conferences and visiting some of our first Canadian project sites. Her technical expertise and growing relationships across the industry will play an important role in establishing LoCI’s presence and supporting our continued growth in Canada.

"I've spent years studying landfill methane emissions and how we can better measure and reduce them. With Canada placing greater emphasis on methane reduction and renewable natural gas production, it's exciting to join LoCI and put that research into practice.”

James Mackey | Chief Financial Officer

Throughout his career, James Mackey has helped organizations navigate complex financial decisions, secure investment, and pursue strategic growth opportunities across evolving industries. As LoCI enters its next phase of growth, we're excited to welcome James as our new Chief Financial Officer, bringing the financial leadership and industry expertise needed to support our continued expansion.

James brings more than 25 years of experience across energy, renewable infrastructure, climate technology, and capital markets. Most recently, he served as CFO of Air Company, following leadership roles at OGCI Climate Investments, Apex Clean Energy, and NextEra Energy Resources.

“LoCI Controls is at an exciting point in its growth as it accelerates deployment of technology that addresses a major environmental challenge while unlocking significant economic value for the energy industry. I look forward to working with the team to build on their momentum and bring LoCI’s industry-leading solutions to more projects across North America.”

Joe Ianuzzi | Director of Business Development, Environmental Attributes

Some of the most valuable perspectives in our industry come from those who have spent years working directly in the field, and that's exactly the experience Joe Ianuzzi brings to LoCI.

With more than 17 years in landfill gas, Joe began his career at SCS Field Services before spending a decade at Waste Management, overseeing gas systems across 12 landfills. Most recently, he served as Senior Project Manager at Barton & Loguidice, leading landfill gas operations and maintenance projects.

Now, as LoCI’s new Director of Business Development with a focus in Environmental Attributes, Joe is bringing that firsthand industry experience to a new area of opportunity, helping landfill owners and gas-to-energy producers unlock additional value from methane emission reductions, including opportunities under LoCI’s approved Low Carbon Fuel Standard pathway.

"I’ve spent my career building and operating landfill gas systems, and I know how much effort it takes to keep a wellfield dialed in. LoCI gives operators better tools to do that, and I’m looking forward to helping landfills get more out of the gas they’re already collecting."

Growing Together, Building What's Next

Looking toward 2027 and beyond, there’s plenty to be excited about at LoCI, with new markets to explore, expanding technology and services, and more opportunities to help customers realize the operational, environmental, and financial value of better methane management. But what makes this next chapter especially exciting is the team behind it, from those who have helped build LoCI into what it is today to the new faces bringing fresh perspectives and experience to our work. Our growth has always been driven by the dedication and expertise of our people, and with so much opportunity ahead, we’re excited to see what this team will accomplish next.
